Professor John Wells

Dean, School of Health Sciences, South East Technological University, Ireland

PhD, MSc, BA(Hons), PGDipEd, FFNMRCSI, RNT, RPN

John is a qualified mental health nurse who trained and worked as clinician in London in the 1980s. Since 1991 John has worked as an academic nurse and researcher. John's primary areas of research interest are in the mental and physical wellbeing of health care workers, substance use and misuse and health care policy formulation and implementation.

Role and expertise in SSTeMM

John's areas of expertise in SSTeMM are in project management; the impact of stress on student nurses; the design of interventions to manage stress in the clinical area and the development of training approaches.

Dr. Mary Reidy

Lecturer, School of Health Sciences, South East Technological University

PhD BSc (Hons) PGDipEd Dip SHWW FFNMRCSI RNID

Mary is a qualified intellectual disability nurse who trained and worked as staff nurse in Waterford. Since 2017 Mary has worked as an academic nurse and researcher. Mary's primary areas of research interest are in the mental wellbeing of student nurses, substance use and misuse and targeted health promotion and health literacy among vulnerable and marginalised social groups.

Mary's areas of expertise in SSTeMM in reviewing the evidence base on the impact of stress on student nurses; the acceptability and feasibility testing of interventions to manage student stress in the clinical area and the development of training resources.

Marie Carey

Lecturer Mental Health, School of Health Sciences, South East Technological University, Ireland.

MSc, PGDip Cog. Psychotherapy, BA Hons, RPN; RNP. BABCP CBT Accredited.

Marie is a qualified mental health nurse, nurse prescriber and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who trained and worked as a clinician in Ireland and Australia since early 2000. Since 2010, Marie specialised in Home Based Treatment interventions and in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Marie shares her work as a lecturer, researcher and CBT clinician. Marie’s primary areas of research interest are in CBT for suicidal ideation, stepped care and standardising evidence based mental health assessment and treatment. Marie’s study for PhD research is in Suicide and CBT Imagery Interventions. Marie’s areas of expertise in SSTeMM are in conceptualising clear CBT principles throughout the project; CBT content development for App and developing stress signature concept for student nurses.

Catherine Cunniffe

Delivery Manager/ Head of Division, Professional Software Engineering Services, Walton Institute

Catherine Cunniffe is the Walton Institute Delivery Manager for all industry related projects in the Walton Institute, and Head of Division for the Professional Software Engineering Services (PSES) Division in Walton Institute. Catherine manages a high performing, professional and committed team of Engineers who reliably deliver the following functions and services to Domestic and International clients: Design & Development, Software Engineering, Test Verification and Validation. Catherine brings over 20 years’ experience across a broad base of the IT and telecommunications industries.

Catherine is supporting the project team with the delivery of the software engineering aspects of the SSTeMM project.

Peter Scanlon

Experienced Software Developer, Walton Institute

Peter is an Experienced Software Engineer within the Professional Software Engineering Services Division at Walton Institute. Peter's main interest areas are in Frontend technologies and developing mobile applications across various platforms.
Peter has also worked on a range of collaborative projects, contributing to state-of-the-art analysis, system architecture specification, software development and concept development both internally within Walton Institute and as part of a distributed research team.
For the SSTeMM project Peter is developing a mobile platform that will allow end users to track their stressors while in the workplace and also provide a portal to access the resources to manage these stressors and develop personal skills and competency set that will enhance their person wellbeing once they have entered the world of full time employment following graduation/qualification.

Stephen O Donnell

Audio Visual Technician , South East Technological University, Ireland

Stephen is involved in the daily running of audio-visual equipment within the institute with an interest in video production and live event production

Stephen areas of expertise in SSTeMM are in video production of materials for the project.

Florian Scheibein

Research Assistant, Waterford Institute of Technology

M.Sc., M.Sc.

Florian is a Research Assistant and PhD Student in the School of Health Sciences, Waterford Institute of Technology. His research interests include stress management; well-being; work life balance; training needs; substance use; harm reduction and online sexualised drug use. He has experience managing and administering a range of transnational digital projects. He is currently a Guest Editor for a Harm Reduction Journal Special Series on “Young people, drugs and harm reduction”.

Florian is involved in various aspects of the administration and management of the SSTeMM project.
